How to request a license file for a paid subscription

Description

As of 2022-07-07, GitLab moved to Strict Cloud Licensing. This means that all customers are now required to utilize the 24-character cloud activation keys instead of the previous license system.

However some customers may be in need of an exemption to this such as customers running an offline instance, or one running a GitLab version older than 14.1.

Impacted offerings:

  • GitLab Self-Managed
     

Solution

Exemptions for getting a license file must go through the GitLab sales team.

Visit the Contact us page of your Customers Portal account to find out your GitLab Sales representative contact details and send them an email to request the license file.

The GitLab Support cannot provide a license file if the subscription was sold as an online license which sends a 24-character activation code.
